2017 Deer Summary ...

????? Where is it ???? ... heck, its almost Turkey time and it still isnt out... one would think with all this electronic check in, it wouldnt take this long to come up with reasons why the kill was down ;0) ...

has it ever been this late ??

In the past, the summary was 15 pages long. In 2016, it was 129 pages in length.

More detail, more time would be my guess.

I talked to the Biologist this morning.... it will be at least another month .... jjas, your kinda correct .... this will be the most in depth summary ever...... over 300 pages .... it will have much more details, info from surveys, info from the Fish and Wildlife areas and more ...

I had heard it was going to be very detailed, but I never imagined it would be over 300 pages.

Sounds like the new biologist is trying to be very thorough and transparent.

I wonder if we will have the 2017 reports in time to prepare for the 2019 deer seasons ...

Here it is almost August, and still no report ..... smh ...

While the harvest report is still MIA, the hunting and trapping guide is out now.

The bonus antlerless quotas are in the guide for this upcoming deer season. There are no counties north of Indianapolis that are a 4 or above. As a matter of fact, last season there were 37 counties that were a 4 and 12 that were an 8. This season there are 21 counties that are a 4 and 3 that are an 8. The 8 counties are Floyd, Clark and Harrison.

its about darn time they stopped the late kill all the Does season in Dec up here .... I say "stopped" because you have to be a 4 or more bonus to be in it ... a lot more Habitat and deer south of Indy ... a good move for once, at least for up here, but as picky as I am, they could have dropped it to a 2 bonus ;0)

You can still kill does in Dec/Jan up there.... you just got use a BOW [i am sure that's ok with you]or be in a urban Zone !

I dont hunt urban ... havnt purchased a "urban" tag for years (now called reduction zone tags) ....... I have been back on state land for several years now.... I havnt gun hunted since 2012.... I buy two archery tags... dont need any more than that ....

I'm shocked they finally took my county off the late antlerless season (Vigo). Great news IMO.

Less than 60 days until the 2018 bow season opener and still no 2017 report ...
