Lost $1,000 Matthew Compound Bow at Willow Slough - 11/06/2017 12:13 PM

So I'm walking out to put up a stand in a good spot at section 8 at Willow Slough in Morocco - NW Indiana.

My cousin briefly talks to a guy and then comes over to help me... turns out the guy left his Matthews Bow - (Nice) next to his truck and then left.

We get done, and walk back over and there you go, $1,000 on the ground - beautiful bow my friends.

"What do we do? Can't leave it here, someone will just take it" We point to the other truck... that guy might take it. What if we go to the check in station? Me: "Those guys will take it and say no one dropped it off"

My cousin says, "I have spray paint in my truck"

I laugh cause my cousin has EVERYTHING in his truck. MacGyver doesn't have the materials that my cousin has.

We have marking spray paint... paint an orange arrow pointing to the bow, lean it up against a little electrical thing near the road.

We laugh and both agree - that guy will definitely be back to look for it.

Hopefully he found it.

Several years back we returned to the truck after a day hunting pheasant at the Slough. "And what to my wandering eyes do I see"..... but a beautiful Browning over/under!! I remember the guy that parked next to me had one in the morning. I called the Check Station and told them I found "a shotgun" and left my number figuring someone would call or stop in looking for it. They wanted me to bring the gun and leave it with them.... uh, no! The next day the owner called, he set it ON TOP of his truck, loaded the dogs then drove away. He was very relieved. Your bow owner will be very happy too that someone with character found his equipment.

That sounds like a better idea than we had... but I live far away so I didn't want to drive back to deliver it. I would be upset if I forget my bow. hopefully he doesn't leave it in his truck until next time he hunts.
