seeing some scrapes apear now. I moved some cams over them. Saw a couple small bucks cruising the field edges right at dusk the last couple nights.

Next weeks weather (highs in the 60s and 70's) sure won't help any!

First time out today in 2 weeks. Small 6 cruising is all. Very little mature buck activity on cams. Typical.

I have buddies arguing with me daily. They say the chase is on and I say bull. Just seeing scrapes now little bucks pushing and big bucks only after dark. Its coming but not now. No forecast for frost until after Nov. 15.

OUR CORN IS STILL UP AND I HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN A DEER FROM THE STAND THIS YEAR IN ABOUT 10 SITS

Re: Activity - 10/28/2016 08:50 PM

saw 4 does tonight in the field in front of me. No bucks showed.

I will be taking a few days off waiting for temps to drop and action to pickup. Sunny and 67F with a 10mph south wind is great for me, but not so great for deer movement.

As I tried to explain on "Hunting Indiana" forum; it's simply too warm for any good Deer movement. Plus, not sure of the acorn situation up in Indiana, but here in Central Kentucky, there are TONS of acorns. With this warm weather, Deer don't really have to move around and if they do so it at night.

Had 1 basket rack buck come into 3 does and ended up running one of the does off, but really think he was cruising through and came across them from the opposite direction. But a lot of scrapes showing up in Switzerland Co.

Re: Activity - 10/31/2016 05:52 AM

Had a very active weekend in Switzerland Co. Friday 10/28, I saw activity all day. Multiple bucks, 2 of them (3.5yo) pushing a doe around. Several does feeding (10+).

Saturday was a slower day, but still saw some does and heard bucks fighting.

Sunday morning was another very active feeding morning with another 10+ does. 5 of which ended up bedding underneath me around 10:45am. Heard bucks fighting off in the distance again.

I'm excited for this next weekend, will probably be starting some all-day sits.

Re: Activity - 11/01/2016 02:06 PM

Having a lot of scrapes appear but not as many rubs. Made a couple mock scrapes and have a smaller rack but nice 10 or 12 pointer checking them daily in fact he made a scrape next to my mock scrape and dug in my mock scrape. Rattled in a buck sunday but wasn't given a shot opportunity. Saw a big buck saturday chasing a doe but wasn't given a bow shot either. If it would have been gun season I would be done for the year. Hunting this warm and windy weather is hard up here this week

Re: Activity - 11/01/2016 04:22 PM

I'm up a tree right now and things are real quiet in this heat & wind. Even the squirrels are not moving! But it's November now so there's no way I'm not hunting!

Been seeing lots of buck action on my 'scrape cam'. About 70/30 nighttime versus daytime. Almost all night time action on days with warm temps.

I have Friday off and will most definitely be in a tree. May try for an all day sit, but will let the action tell me.

I have Friday off as well. Deer hunt the am, come home to eat and run the beagles for an hour or two then back into the stand for the evening.

All-day sit Friday is in my future.

That's Weather Underground...
https://www.wunderground.com/

When you pull up your location, click on "Graph" under the 10-day Forecast.

Re: Activity - 11/02/2016 10:17 AM

The 3 weathersites I use are WUnderground, Accuweather and Scoutlook.....Wunderground is my Fav....shows a ten day wind direction guess.. I only trust it within 3 days of when I'm hunting, Ive seen it change way to many times farther out than that......I like knowing when and if direction switch is going to hit...use the zip code of where your hunting, and your set ... I'll be back out late this week trying for a Big doe, now that the pressure is off ;0) ...

Re: Activity - 11/02/2016 09:50 PM

Saw 4 bucks dog a doe across a bean field this morning 1 mature, 2 little bucks and 1 probably 2 years old.

Last night saw a decent buck cruising 45 minutes before dark inside city limits of Evansville.

My old man jumped a mature buck bedded with doe when he went in over midday to hang a new set.

Tomorrow- Sunday morning should be on for SW Indiana.

Uh, its ready to bust loose.SE Indiana that is, two of us went form seeing very little over weekend to seeing 7 diff bucks Monday and 8 diff bucks on same property Tuesday. Both of us passed on 140 class bucks in pursuit of two 160 plus class bucks that have been nemesis bucks for us for two years. Get out there. Gonna be a great next 5-10 days before lock down
