Shot this little 9 yesterday morning. I think he was an older deer and kind of had an oddball rack. I first saw him heading away from me at about 40 yds after he'd crossed a creek. I grunted and got his attention 3 times before he finally turned and came to me. Shot him at about 15 yds.

Nice buck, let me say it is a great 1 1/2 year old or a nice 2 year old deer. Will not comment on the "tool" used or timeing. No way is it a mature buck at 3+ years old.

Just going to say "Thank You", one less hunter in the woods for the best time to kill a "azz kicker".

Love the guys who can't "keep the Booger

Kill the deer you want,(as you did) congrats on another crossbow kill.

Weedy knows how I feel about Joe's post. I deleted my response before many saw it as to not start the bickering, but that post wasn't necessary to say the least.

No biggie guys, I learned long ago in life that people that never have anything good to say do that because they are just miserable people, they hate their life and want to try to bring everyone else down too. Lets just all pray for JB to kill a monster so he'll have a moment of happiness. The sad part of all this is the fact that he's a moderator on this site. That's ridiculous and something should be done about it.

Yeah that was pretty salty. Proud of ya Gilley. If I was the target of that drivel I'd likely come back with both barrels blazing. I like your buck and I hope you had an enjoyable hunt. Enjoy those fresh straps brother.

Gilley, congrats on one fine azz kicker unique buck!!! smile He will provide many great memories of a fantastic hunt to relive for years to come! I really enjoy when you can call a buck back to you after they start to walk away in the wild. Vocalization is so much fun with critters! Deer, turkey, coyotes, etc... Again congrats on a fine buck and thanks for sharing it with us!

JB's comment is the exact reason i have not posted in a few years. He just has a way of making a conversation toxic.

First off I want to say congrats to Gilley on a job well done and hope that his deer provides him and his family with many hearty meals...

Now, time for my rant....

Really Joe? How classy from the President of IDHA... All you needed to say was congrats or better yet not said anything at all...

You know the old saying "Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought of as a fool, then to open it and remove all doubt"... Well you not only opened it but you shoved your foot all the way down your throat....

What if your grandson shot a similar buck? Would you be happy and full of pride for him or would you be happy on the outside but disgusted on the inside for shooting the buck?

Bad enough that guys like you can ruin a perfectly good forum cause we don't want to hunt your way or by your rules or weapon of YOUR choice of approval... So what if someone wants to use a crossbow? Whats the big effing deal?... A DEAD DEER IS A DEAD DEER regardless of weapon... If I could snap my fingers and have it my way every time guys like you shot an arrow it would go right around hit you right where your opinions belong...

I enjoy reading most everyone's successes on here because I know they are not doing it to gloat... They are doing it to share their experience with everyone... And I do the same thing... I don't do it to gloat I do it to share my experience with everyone else... It is what hunting SHOULD BE about afterall... It should never be about the size of antlers or weapon used to take it...

Congrats Man! You kill it, you eat it, you are proud of it! I am happy another hunter got a deer they wanted to shoot!

For the rest of this post, WOW! I too am gun shy to post opinions and pictures as well! There are a lot of names that used to be on here that are long gone from this site because of this crap!

Thanks Gilley for being a good sport! I would not have been!

Let me be very clear. The IDHA is NOT an organization that by any means, as a part of its mission, activities or agenda, seeks to promote any aspect of trophy hunting, management or even philosophy. Various individuals within the organization have varying views on all aspects of deer hunting and are free to express those views as individuals. However, unless specifically stated otherwise, personal views are not nor should they be construed as on behalf of the IDHA. Just because the organization runs the Hoosier Record Book program, that does not suggest that trophy or big antler management is the goal of the organization. And, the organization supports all legal and ethical use of weapons and recognizes all deer regardless of size, sex or age as a quality deer and something to be admired and celebrated when harvested.
