Well, after not being able to retrieve a few deer that I shot, I bought a dog! I have been training her, and would like to get more experience with real situations.

Therefore, before I offer our services for a fee- I am simply offering to assist in your tracking for FREE (donations or gas money appreciated but not expected).

DISTANCE: I am in zipcode 46126 - My preference is that I work the following counties at this time: Shelby, Johnson, Bartholomew, Jennings, Marion, Hancock, Hendricks, Decatur.

I cannot accept each circumstance but will sift out the opportunities accordingly. By now means is this a guaranteed recovery and no means is my dog an expert. She has a good nose, and is in the process of being trained for deer recovery.

KEEP IN MIND: If you go back and trample the woods trying to find your deer, it makes it more difficult if not impossible for my dog. BACK OUT and contact me.

LASTLY, if you are willing, I would be glad to have a known-positive recovery as well. These types of recoveries assist her in building confidence and improve her response for more difficult finds.

PLEASE keep my number handy as I would love to join you for your next track job. TXT me at 317.835.9705

Too bad for me you don't come down to SW Indiana, I could have used your services last Sat. morning when the 10 point buck I shot got away from me.
I tracked the blood trail for about 40 yds right into a ditch then I lost it. He broke my arrow off on a tree before turning to go into the ditch.
I hunted the area Sun. morning & noticed a larger than normal amount of coyote activity so I know what happened to my buck.

Well, I hunt often down near Madison, and will likely have her with me EACH time I hunt as long as I can figure out logistics (kenneling and safety for her while I am hunting).

Therefore, keep my number handy. This year, she should do okay with locates, and hopefully by next year with another year of training under her belt I hope she will be excellent!

I shot a 150-class in the past that had rain that night/next morning- and would have been an easy track with a dog- if I had a dog handy that is. I promised to never be without a dog again.

76- to be honest, I bought an english pointer which is about third in the list of best deer tracking dogs. The lineage for pointers in general came from bloodhounds, greyhounds, italian pointers, and bulldogs and sure others that were crossed to become what we think to be a 'bird-dog'. They were bred having the best nose(s) and also strength in field.

When I work her, I have a harness on her. That harness means to her that it is time to track deer (not birds, rabbits, or other critters). I am teaching her to track more on blood- not dead deer/gland secretions etc... Therefore, not every dog is equal in the type of track. If the deer is not secreting any blood at all.. it is a difficult track at times. I can move her in the future to track more on hoof/specific deer ID, but that will take more experience.

The benefit is that i use her as well for quail hunting. HOWEVER, being that we live in Indiana- I see more injured deer than quail (at this time)..

I had my lab find a few deer for me. I didn't do any training(for deer). We did a lot of training for duck hunting. She has a UH and HRCH title. I deer hunted a lot of the same area I trained so I usually had her with me. I would hunt the mornings and evenings and train her then let her run around mid day. A few times when I could find deer that I shot, I wold take her to the spot i shot the deer, showed her the arrow, let her smell it for a little while and then tell her to hunt it up. She would trail the deer and take me right to it. I was amazed every time.
You will have a lot of fun with her. Its so much of a relief when you are at your wits end trying to find this wounded deer and the dog walks you right to it.

Sounds great, best of luck this season.

I had a friend's Labradoodle find a deer for me one time. The dog was as excited as me!
