Well as they say "a blind hog finds an acorn every now and then!" Saturday morning 2 gobbled a few hundred yards away but I chose to stay put. Shortly after daylight 2 hens flew down & into the decoys they come. One didn't stay long but the other yelped her head off...I'm thinking come on boys, I've got the real deal here. Then she went over to the Avian X hen and pecked her..then left. Still no talkers..so I thought I am gonna mess with her and hopefully keep her around so I with my slate I started purring and cutting really aggressively and she starts cutting like crazy and here she comes back purring like crazy and commences to flog my decoy for about 30 seconds. I've seen that on TV but never in person. She was not a happy hen! She had the decoy spinning around like a top. After she slowed down I heard a gobble and then another but alot closer. The hen finally left and I am thinking well, she'll end up taking him with her but low and behold after a few minutes he pops out and at 30 yards I took him. I figure all that commotion got his attention and he had to see what was going on. 22 lbs, 11" beard and some big ole spurs - 37MM. Nicest bird I have ever taken.
